Last weekend I had a portrait session with my sister-in-law Alice and her menagerie (her dog and two horses) at her home in St. Helens, Oregon. It was fun spending the day with her and her animals. I now (after I don't know how many years) am finally able to tell her horses apart. In my defense, I had never been closer to them than spying on them grazing in their field. It now seems totally and completely obvious which one is Gilby and which is Riley.
Her pup, Jax, is a bundle of fun loving energy. He is a nut. He literally runs circles around my dogs when they visit. She rescued him (yay for rescue dogs!) last winter. He came from a high-kill shelter in the LA area. He was still pretty young when she adopted him (8 months, I think) and she has done a ton of work with him. He is a pretty hilarious fellow and has always reminded me of a the muppets of the fire gang in the Labyrinth. Except, you know, he is black and all. Which, I guess, makes him a member of the smoke gang. Disclaimer: he cannot remove his head or eyeballs, BUT he can jump crazy high.
Anyway, enough with the talking and on with the pictures!
